Parish Speeding
Slapton Parish Council operate a Vehicle Activated Sign (VAS) around the Parish. VAS is a generic term for a type of road traffic sign which displays a message conditional upon the speed of a road vehicle.
These signs activate when an approaching vehicle is detected. Should they be within the speed limit, the sign will display the actual speed in green. Should they be exceeding the 30mph speed limit, then the actual speed will be displayed in red as a warning to remind the driver/rider to slow down.
The roadside equipment also records all traffic passing and captures the speeds of each vehicle for statistical purposes.
The highest speed recorded, 81mph, was in Mill Road during January 2019.
The latest speed data graphs can be seen below.
